Utilising nozzles for Offshore Fire Suppression systems

In offshore environments, fire suppression systems such as deluge, foam, and water wall systems play a vital role in ensuring safety. These systems are meticulously designed to function under the harshest weather conditions and to endure prolonged exposure to seawater. The BETE N series nozzles are Factory Mutual approved, which is an essential fire protection requirement for operations conducted out of U.S. ports. These nozzles are frequently employed to upgrade and replace older CO2-based systems on ships, transitioning them to more efficient and reliable water-based systems.

Case Study

NF-1BETE has a longstanding history of supplying specialized “Deck Edge” nozzles for various applications within the US Navy. Specifically, the ¾” NF300-80X and the ¾” NF300-80 nozzles have been effectively utilized to spray aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) on the decks of aircraft carriers. This foam is highly effective in extinguishing fires, thereby preventing extensive damage to the vessels and ensuring the safety of the crew and equipment.

TF-2Moreover, the ½” TF29-180 nozzle was specifically developed for use in Navy magazine sprinkling systems on ships. These nozzles are designed to comply with Military Specification MIL-S-24660 (SH). The 180° full cone spray pattern of these nozzles significantly reduces the vertical clearance required between sprinklers and ordnance from 450mm to just 100mm's. This reduction in clearance enhances both safety and efficiency, allowing for better protection of sensitive areas on the ship.

NThe BETE N series nozzles are engineered to withstand the rigorous demands of offshore applications. Their robust construction ensures longevity and reliability, even in the most challenging conditions. These nozzles are an integral part of fire suppression systems that protect valuable assets and lives in offshore environments. By replacing older CO2-based systems with water-based systems, BETE nozzles contribute to a safer and more sustainable approach to fire suppression.

In summary, the use of BETE nozzles in offshore fire suppression systems exemplifies the importance of advanced engineering and compliance with stringent safety standards. These nozzles not only meet but exceed the requirements for effective fire suppression in demanding offshore environments. Their application in the US Navy and other maritime operations highlights their reliability and effectiveness in protecting both people and property from the dangers of fire.
