Recommendation is emerging to spray down turnout gear after EVERY fire.
It's currently being reported by many news outlets that the protective 'turnout' gear firefighters wear on the job to protect themselves, may itself be a cause of an increased risk of cancer. This gear is quite often made from PFAS materials which is what the studies in question are saying is concerning.
Recommendations seem to be advising to spray down the turnout gear thoroughly after every fire and call out. Limiting it's use when possible, and to switch to safe PFAS-free gear when it is identified and available.*Fire Authorities can more easily decontaminate their firefighting gear by implementing our heavy-duty Strahman washdown guns specially modified to suit their needs. The Strahman Mini-70 were modified with special reduced flow rate mechanism and positional stop so that the gun will only produce a 60° fan spray pattern when in a fully compressed position, enabling a concentrated spray pattern with minimal wastage. Strahman guns can also be used to assist with general decontamination, equipment and truck washdown.

Our customers just love these guns as they are extremely well made and long lasting with rubber grips that can take a beating in the roughest of environments. We also carry repair kits which is an economic option rather than replacing them, these kits are not available for economy washdown guns. Need a swivel connector, hose reel/rack or a hose? This is all our specialty.
